Dicom Product Development - Baler Touch Screen

In order to create an acceptable level of customer satisfaction, a product needs to possess two key elements :

• “Basic attributes” which are expected on every baler just as you would expect a steering wheel on a car.

• “Performance attributes” such as reliability, bale weight and cycle times.

It is generally accepted that Dicom has worked hard over many years to get the basics right and has developed strong customer relationships based on our ability to meet and often exceed the performance expectation. However, in order to achieve even higher levels of customer satisfaction, we need to go further and think about “Excitement attributes”, i.e. those features that will enhance our products from a technical point of view, plus make the operation more natural and intuitive.

Our new vertical baler control panels are designed to do just that. The high spec touch screen is based on the iPad/iPod technology. The operator specifies the language but thereafter the panel takes control. It tells the operator what guards to close, how to start the process and when the bale is ready to be tied off and ejected. Clear graphics and text display indicators, therefore, provide the end user with a definitive guide to the correct operation of the baler.

Multiple screens with a main menu facility are automatically presented so that each screen carries just enough information relating to that stage in the baler cycle and therefore makes it simple and easy to follow.

Over time though, what started as innovation becomes one of those basic expectations so our thinking caps are always on as to how to enhance our product further.

Over the last 34 years, Dicom Limited has become the UK`s leading manufacturer and supplier of static and portable waste compactors. The waste compactors are designed and developed for durability, high performance and ease of operation. This is important to organisations wishing to reduce the frequency and cost of waste collections or where space and hygiene are important factors. This is achieved by significantly reducing the ratio of waste from its original volume. Dependent upon the type of material, a Dicom waste compactor can reduce the waste volume by a ratio of 4:1. This ensures that maximum payloads are achieved with each container. Dicom's portable waste compactors can be supplied with several standard options, such as: liquid retentive seals to prevent food waste leakage, bin lifting equipment for lug and comb type waste containers, choice of standard hopper – open splayed, enclosed, dock loading. The static compactors are also available with a range of hopper options and tipping mechanisms and are available in a range of sizes to suit all volumes. Our equipment can be seen working in almost any industry including manufacturing, retail, leisure, hospitals, restaurants, food production, HM Forces, transport, schools & colleges, warehousing and is often used by waste and recycling contractors to process materials such as cardboard, plastics, food and general waste. Our products meet a range of wide and varied requirements, including the latest health and safety standards, and we offer a range of payment options from outright purchase, rental or lease; so regardless of your waste handling needs, Dicom have the solution.
